  PUFF-O-METRE   Overview The Coal Mines Historic Site was established as a source of income for the government and a way in which to diversify the use of convict labour in Tasmania. It was built up to be a thriving settlement that had over 500 personnal at the height of its operations. This site allows you to explore the settlement as it was along with information boards, informing you how the settlement developed over the years of its operation. To get there, follow the Arthur Highway and Nubeena Road to Saltwater River. Drive through Saltwater River and you'll be met with a grand entrance into the Coal Mines World Heritage site. Follow this dirt road a further few hundred metres until you see the carpark to the trail on the right hand side.  There are toilets located next to the carpark including one designed for the disabled. The main loop from the carpark to the historic site and back is a gravel track that could potentially be wheelchair and pram friendly however any of the o
