Mount Wellington / Kunanyi
Mount Wellington is the centrepiece of Hobart. It's the first thing you see first no matter which direction you enter the city. Its imposing, yet peaceful stature has a way of making you feel like it's the wise grandpa overlooking us all to make sure the city stays in its rightful place. Whilst it creates a magnificent backdrop to Hobart, it also allows for one of the best viewing platforms of Hobart and the surrounding suburbs. On a clear day, you're only limited by what your eye can see from the many different platforms erected around the mountain. Connecting these view locations is a combination of hiking trails, mountain biking tracks and sealed roads. At the top is an information centre that provides shelter from the elements with a comprehensive map on display that tells you what you should be seeing as you view the landscape from different angles.
