Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel is located in Derwent Bridge, approximately 167km south-west of Launceston and 174km north-west of Hobart. Derwent Bridge is known as the southern gateway to the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park and often considered the 'half-way point' between Hobart and Strahan. Because of this, the Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel is a great place for passers-by to stop for a meal and to stretch their legs or for outdoor enthusiasts to have a warming meal and a well-earned drink after a long day of adventuring. The building itself is a cosy, wooden, alpine-style structure with two large, back-to-back wood fireplaces in the main dining / bar / pool table area. The fire is often roaring and there are even blankets draped over the backs of chairs for those that feel the cold. It's particularly beautiful in the snow. The food is simple pub food, done well.
