Prince of Wales Hotel is located in the historic Hobart suburb of Battery Point. The Prince of Wales offers counter meals at the bar as well as meals in its restaurant. The focus of this review is on the restaurant. The décor of the restaurant is fresh and chic. It has more of a restaurant vibe than that of a pub bistro. The menu offers usual pub food such as chicken schnitzels and steaks, but also offers a more elevated pub-style fare. The slow cooked lamb shoulder croquettes with fresh mint, green peas and crumbled feta were soft and tasty and the crumbed outer shell was a crispy and golden. The rich and flavoursome romesco sauce gave the dish some moisture and elevated the dish. We would have loved a bit more of that sauce on the plate! The seafood chowder was creamy, had a lovely hum of garlic and was full of plump seafood .  The slow braised lamb shoulder served with miso sweet potato fresh vegetables, whipped garlic butter and jus was divine.
