Jeffreys Track
Overview Jeffreys Track is arguably one of the most well known 4WD track in Southern Tasmania and isn't one to be taken lightly. There are plenty of sections that simply require good under vehicle clearance however in the winter.... it's a whole different beast. You can start the track from either Lachlan or Crabtree. To start at the Lachlan (Northern) end of the track from Hobart – head along National Highway 1, turn left at Granton prior to the Bridgewater Bridge onto the Lyell Highway (A10), continue towards New Norfolk, turn left at Glebe Road and continue to Lachlan Road (C613). Continue on Lachlan Rd beyond the Lachlan River, turn left into Hydehurst Road at the Y junction. Continue on Hydehurst Rd to the next Y junction and turn right onto Jeffreys track. To start at the Crabtree (Southern) end of the track from Hobart, take the Southern Outlet towards Kingston, turn right onto Huon Highway. Continue to Grove, turn right onto Mountain River Road (C617), then turn left
