Huon River - Huonville to Franklin The Huon River is not only an icon of Tasmanian water systems but it also extends for several hundreds of kilometres. With this in mind, this post will focus on the section from Huonville to Franklin. Once you travel further up the river from Huonville, it is affected by rainfall and snow melts. However from Huonville down to Franklin, this stretch of water is affected by tidal currents. The two bodies of water meet at Huonville and this is why the town is seasonally affected by flooding under the right conditions.                                                             It stands to reason that kayaking up the Huon River after Huonville is quite a challenge.
